Space Marine First Impressions (by Talty)

As you can see Oka has been in a bit of Space Marine frenzy, and me too (sort of) because of all the time we spend together. I thought I would give you my impressions of the Space Marine game from the point of view of an Ork lover.

First, the obvious complain: I WANT TO PLAY AS AN ORK. No Ultramarine, no Blood Raven, no Chaos Marine. ORK ORK ORK ORK. I want to run around yelling "WAAAGH!" and ground those damned "Spaice Marines" with my Big Choppa to pink mist, like they do to my beloved Orks. The multiplayer would benefit so much from adding Orks to the playable characters.

Now that I got that out of my system I'm also a bit disappointed with the representation of the Orks in the campaign mode. I don't like their voices, they sound too human to me and they don't have nearly as many "ughs!" and "aghs!" as they should. Ork zpelin' iz verrrry diztinktyv, and they should have reflected that in the way the Orks talk (or well, yell). I demand more growling!!!

Second, it's also disappointing that the Orks are so... cloned? All the Boyz look pretty much the same, even the Nobz are identical! Fluff-wise, I can't see that happening. I can't imagine the Orks deciding to dress all the same and picking a color scheme. And I know I'm being a bit picky about it, but I don't care! Orks should be Orks!

So well those are my first impressions. I loved a few scenes of the Orks fighting each other or doing Ork stuff. I'll keep cheering for them while Oka plays! GO ORKS!!

Dark Heresy RPG

So, after a great weakend of massive multiplayer playing (I played masively!) of Space Marine, a great game btw. I went back to an old classic, RPGames, yeah I was that freaky back in high school, and I loved it.

Back then i played World of Darkness games, but now with all my spare time around 40k, I had to check their RPGs.

"Dark Heresy" suits you as an Inquisitor's Acolyte, and tho Im not a big fan of the Ordos, I've found rather fun and interesting all the freedom it allows(as a good RPG), while still giving us enough direction on how to play.

For now, Im still reading the rules and nicks of the game, while trying to make some characters and playtest em.

Anyone interested on Space Marine Multiplayer or Dark Heresy RPG, just beep me.

Space Marine First Impresions

So, finally the Gamestore got the copies of the game, SHAMEFULLY they didnt respected the pre-order add-ons, even tho I did not wanted the CSM skins It supposedly included, Its blasphemy! They shall be Purged!

Anyway, moving on. The main Campaign its awesome, 9/10 (Im taking 1 point, because Im a fanboy) the story seems quite on track, the visual effects are topnoch, but what makes it so great is the feeling of the 40k universe.

About the multiplayer, well, I tried to get on a game for a couple of hrs yesterday with no luck, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but was actually a turn off. Latter that night on my home I was able to join after 20mins waiting, and let me tell you, It worth the wait!

As soon as I got in, it was awesome-sauce! As any other game you have to get the hold of it, and for the first rounds i was sucking, even tho i was having a blast, but not so much latter and after trying the Assault Marine, I was leveling and finishing 2nd.

Anyway, for today, I`ve been trying to get in a game, no luck so far. I hope it gets better on the next days, but for now thats it.

Medicinal French Toast

I spent last weekend sick with a stubborn flu. Oka and I went out one day and we got trapped in the worst rain we've had in years, it was a very fun adventure but we both came back completely soaked, and I managed to catch a flu. Well just my luck.

One day when I was feeling particularly ill, I opened the door early in the morning and Oka was holding bread for French toast. That was enough to lift up my spirit! A few minutes later I was eating some "medicinal French toast" he made for me, and it was delicious!

I liked it so much I had to take a photo. Heaven in every bite!

Our medicinal French toasts started one day when I had a huge headache (note: I get migraines xD lots of them). I usually do all the cooking for both of us because I love cooking, but that particular morning I couldn't do anything but hold my head and complain. Oka offered to cook us breakfast, and I suggested French toast because it was easy enough, so after giving him some instructions he gave his best and made us some delicious French toast. A few minutes later my headache was gone and Oka proudly announced that it was because he had made "medicinal French toasts".

Since, every time I'm sick or in any kind of pain, he prepares medicinal French toast for me and I love it! It makes me feel immediately better. If I were that kind of cheesy girl I would say it's the ~*LOVE*~, but it's probably just the sugar and that I love being pampered by Oka xD but whatever it is, it works!

So back to last week, Oka made me some medicinal French toast that I happily devoured with cinnamon and sugar, my favorite topping. He also made me some delicious black coffee and to top it all, he bought me my favorite chocolate milk! He made me feel like a princess!!

Black coffee in my Gir mug that Oka got me and chocolate milk with Transformers xD my perfect morning!

The chocolate milk even came with a little transformers toy. Bliss!! I had fun assembling it, but I think I needed a second one to play properly whatever game it was made for, so I donated it to my cats. Jackie enjoyed it for 5 full minutes until he lost it under the sofa. Gotta love cats xD

Bumblebee I will rescue you from under the sofa one day, I promise!

Well that's the story of my medicinal French toast. I think that it's such a cute and thoughtful idea to share with your loved one, so feel free to borrow it for whatever food you choose xD In case you want to try French toast, I made a tutorial for that: http://talty.deviantart.com/art/French-Toast-Tutorial-127865854

Jack's first anniversary

Hey! It's been a long time since the last time we wrote a blog entry. I somehow knew this would happen... I blame Oka, he said he would write things with me but he left me! Well, whatever, I'll scold him later..

I want to share a very important date.  One year ago, on July 28th, my mom found one of our cats, Jack. I'm usually not big on dates, I even forget my anniversary with Oka... but Jack's first anniversary means a lot to me, and I really want to share a bit of his story. It's been a very important issue to me this last year, it's also a beautiful story of love and hope.

A year ago, when my mom found Jackie he was in a very poor condition. We don't know what happened to him, I HAVE to believe he had an accident, because the alternative is too painful. Anyway, whatever accident he had caused him a lot of injuries, the most important of them, the lost of his left eye.

He was very young, weak, thin, and injured. No one allowed me to see him, they said it was too much for me... maybe they were right. He was rushed the the vet, and he performed the surgery to save his young life. The vet even made sure to make him look as normal and pretty as possible, he's awesome (he said he had studied some techniques with a (human's) plastic surgeon, I wish all vets would care so much about animals as he does).

After the surgery we brought him back and started to look after him. It was a slow process, and I went through most of it in tears. He was so tiny and thin that everyone was afraid to pick him up, he was so very fragile... I would gently pick him up and let him sleep in my arms all day, he was very weak so he slept a lot back then. I felt that the best thing I could do was keep him warm and let him know I was there.

He went through a lot those first weeks. One day he was weaker than usual and he wouldn't move, after another rushed visit to the vet it turned out that he had a huge headache caused by whatever little optical nerve he had left; one shot later he was better. A few days later we discovered he had fleas, but that one was easy to control. Some deworming later he was also clean of worms and other nasty things. After a while we discovered he was lactose intolerant... I know, all cats are lactose intolerant, but he was REALLY intolerant. You should have seen it to understand.

But one wonderful day, he woke up and he was better. All better. He started to jump around, run, and he was a perfectly normal kitty. The first time I saw him play, after all those hard weeks, I cried.

Jackie, 3 months old. Some minor scars left.

He never knew he was different. He learned how to move, jump and do everything like any regular kitty, but with just one eye. I admit it was difficult at first, he bumped into some things, but he learned. He played with the other cats, he fought with them, he was a perfect kitty. I thought he would never be able to hunt or catch anything, but he's just as good as any other cat! But that's something I'm not particularly happy with, I'm always shoo'ing away the birds...

Jackie, 9 months old. No scarring left!

He also started to grow a LOT. He's the largest cat we have. He has a very strong personality, and he soon became the boss. But to me...? He's a little cuddly baby.

When he was 9 months old, we feared for him again. He had a fight with one of our cats (we never saw which one) that resulted in a big scratch in his eye. When we saw him crying blood we worried a lot, we didn't know what it was, but the vet said he would be fine, he wasn't going to loose his other eye. He prescribed some eye drops, and believe me, it was a challenge!! That's a story on its own.

He still has a tiny scar in his eye, but that's it. He's fine. He's perfectly fine. He's healthy, strong, and pretty much crazy. He doesn't remember anything that happened, he doesn't know he's different, now all he has to worry about is dinner time and finding a cozy spot to sleep. He's very happy, and every time I see him, I feel very happy too. He's our little miracle.

Jackie, just a week ago.

At first, I was afraid I would see him different, or that I would always think of him as a cat with one eye. But I don't. I only see him as Jackie, that's the way he is, and he is perfect. He is gorgeous, and I wouldn't change a thing about him.

Here's a little secret... do you see his left ear? He lost the tip too. That's my favorite thing about him. The tip of my right ear is slightly bent, a birth defect I've always ignored (it's almost always covered by hair, and it's always been part of me). When I realized that our ears were similar, I went crazy with excitement. I remember when the vet said he could make both ears even, I immediately yelled "NO!!!".

That's it. It was nice to finally put my memories and thoughts into words. Jackie taught me that anything is possible and that being different doesn't make you different. He's also a proof of how wonderful cats are, specially when they're rescued from the streets or a shelter. They pay you a million times with happiness and love.

Starry Sky Nail Art

The people around me may have already noticed that for the past few months, I've been quite passionate about nail art. It's like doing a work of art in a canvas I can take around! It always gets noticed, so I don't feel like I'm showing off... and in a few days, I can make a new one! It allows me to play, have fun, and be creative.

The only sad part is that I'm very limited to the brands of nail polish I can use. Since December I'm only using cruelty free and vegan products, and the only brand I've found in Mexico that meets these requirements is Wet n Wild's nail polishes. To make matters even worst, I can only buy them in one store!

Anyway, leaving that aside... I haven't posted any photos of the nail arts I've done because I don't think I'm good enough yet, but this one has a really cute story that I wanted to write down and share!

Yesterday I applied this dark blue nail polish and went to show the color to Oka. He saw it and said "you know, I think that would look very pretty with stars, like a starry sky". I loved the idea, and next thing I knew, Oka was softly holding my hand and painting little stars in my nails. He had offered to help me, and I felt like a princess!

That made me fall in love with him all over again. Almost daily he makes something that makes me say "wow, he's really awesome! I love him so much!". The best part is that it's never on purpose, it's always little, thoughtful things.

(is it just me, or that was a bit too cheesy?)

Anyway, here's the final result. It's one of my favorite nail arts.

Used Blue Moon as base coat, white acrylic paint for the little stars, and stamped the big stars with one of  Bundle Monster's discs.

Anyway, I hope you'll like it :)
